10 · FAQ
Single-lumen catheters are used for drainage, obstruction relief and bladder flushing. A 2-way Foley catheter includes an inflatable balloon for retention during indwelling placement. Catheter type, size and duration are selected by the veterinarian for the patient and procedure.
22G–26G options are commonly considered for cats and small dogs, while 14G–20G options may suit larger dogs. The appropriate gauge depends on vein size, patient condition and required infusion flow; a veterinarian should determine the selection.
PGA/PGLA and PDO are absorbable suture materials. Braided PGA/PGLA options are used for selected soft-tissue closure, while PDO monofilament options offer longer strength retention. The surgeon chooses the material according to the tissue, healing requirements and selected product instructions.
Luer lock/slip syringes are mainly used for injection. Dedicated feeding and irrigation syringes are available for oral medication, milk feeding or wound flushing. Confirm the intended use and compatible connection for the selected item.
Pill guns and calibrated dosing syringes help place tablets or deliver measured liquid medication with less spillage. Use the correct feeder size and veterinarian-demonstrated technique; avoid forcing medication or placing a tool too deeply.
